Humans, however, are excellent at adapting to new circumstances, which means that people will habituate to their new relationship or wealth, return to a baseline level of happiness, and seek out the next milestone. Fortunately, the same principle applies to setbacks—we are resilient and will most likely find happiness again.
Happy people live with purpose. They find joy in lasting relationships, working toward their goals, and living according to their values. The happy person is not enamored with material goods or luxury vacations. This person is fine with the simple pleasures of life—petting a dog, sitting under a tree, enjoying a cup of tea.
Commit to your goals.Pick one, two, or three significant goals that are meaningful to you, and devote time and effort to pursuing them, we get satisfaction from achieving goals in life, especially things we love doing.
Some key signs of happiness include:
Feeling like you are living the life you wanted
Feeling that the conditions of your life are good
Feeling that you have accomplished (or will accomplish) what you want in life
Feeling satisfied with your life
Feeling positive more than negative.
Health and happiness are completely intertwined. That’s not to say that people with illnesses can’t be happy, but that attending to one’s health is an important—and perhaps under appreciated—component of well-being….. Happiness in the home gives us that sense of calm and well-being. Children feel loved and brings them happiness.
Researchers have identified many links between health and happiness—including a longer lifespan—but it’s difficult to distinguish which factor causes the other. Making changes to diet, exercise, sleep, and more can help everyone feel more content.

Here we look at the right face shape for a certain hairstyle ? This is something we should consider before choosing a hairstyle. What might look good on one person , will not be as suitable on another person with a different face shape. The different face shapes include :- Round, Oval, Pear-shaped/Diamond, Heart shaped, Square shape. Someone might have a long/Oblong face and/or a high forehead, these are all things to consider, before choosing a style.
People with a Square face should consider to have a haircut that softens up sharp angles and enhances your best feature. The goal of a hairstyle for a square face is to minimize the width. With a broader jawline, it is also possible that you can opt for side parting but this time with full length locks to match your hairstyle. The locks falling a little bit beyond your chin would veil the face properly from one side, revealing your square toned jawline from the other side……Hairstyles or cuts that do this include:
The Oblong shaped face is the narrowest face shape, a good cut will widen the face. Texture is a huge one with oblong face shapes…By adding texture to the hair, it will add width to make the face shape more symmetric. “So you can go for any on the list below:-
The Oval shaped face suits most hairstyles, everyone knows that the oval face is considered close to perfect…… Girls with such face shape can try out any hairstyle they wish, no hairstyle can make their face look terrible. Choosing a hairstyle for an oval face is very easy. You don’t even have to worry about the style. You are free to focus on the hair type and shape of your forehead…..Your perfect choice is an open face haircut that allows you to take advantage of your ideal face shape. Curly Bob’s, Pixie cut and medium length styles are great for an oval shaped face.
A long hairstyle will help you make your rounded face look more oval. You can also go for waves and layers that go below the chin. When you have medium hair and a rounded face, a wavy bob haircut should help you achieve a slimmer appearance, remember if you are considering a fringe, that bangs must be edgy, not in a blunt cut and long locks worn on your shoulders, will elongate your face.
Pear-shaped face is characterized by a small forehead and a larger chin on its background. A “Pear-shaped face” can consider a “Bob hairstyle” or an elongated version of it. It is important that the entire volume of hair is cut above the cheekbone line, but for people with thick hair, since the bulk of it is still collected in the zone of cheekbones and chin. The correct length is just below the cheekbones. Short haircuts can also be the right choice if they are voluminous, and the length still covers the ears. Such styling can also be combed back or rolled up in wave. Asymmetrical hairstyles are perfect for Pear faces as they minimize extra width and have a nice slimming effect on the face This hairstyle can work on any hair length from long to short as long as you have enough length to wrap it and pin it back to the side of the head.
Mothers and Fathers are their daughter’s and son’s first role models.. This is part of discovering who we are and trying to find our place in the world as Men and Women. This is fine if you have a strong female/male role model from which to emulate yourself after. But what happens if you don’t ? Unfortunately there are many girls/boy’s today, that do not have strong male/female role models so they turn to the TV and social media, as their guide to living their life and making important life choices….
The images that they receive in the media are often life shaping for them. As adults, it is much easier for us to see how silly and unrealistic these images and expectations are, but for young girls/boy’s, they are not often able to discern the difference.
One thing that’s important is keeping communication lines open, that will help them to feel safe in coming to you if they have a problem. Don’t be judgmental or they will shut down and go somewhere else for advice, which could be detrimental to them.
Media plays an important role in shaping the ideas and beliefs of teens. In fact, continuous exposure to media has proven to impact a child’s social, physical, and mental development.
Exposure to media is not always bad. Media at large can have a positive impact on teenage behavior and attitudes. On Social media teens find this interaction entertaining and satisfying for their self-expression, thus boosting their confidence and self-esteem.
Online documentaries, movies, inspirational stories on the internet, print, and broadcast media can be a source of inspiration for your teen.
The media disseminates information on health and well-being. A teen, who pays attention to such information, is more likely to be aware of various health issues like teen depression, childhood obesity, etc., and their possible solutions. This might help them make informed and healthy lifestyle choices…..You can strike up a discussion on such issues to educate your child..
There are also the negative effects of social platforms, sometimes they are used to spread biased information and fake news. Teens may start believing the provided information, thus causing a shift in their attitude and behavior.
Most teens post pictures or their feelings online and eagerly wait for likes, shares, and positive comments from friends. These experiences activate the brain’s reward system and increase the levels of dopamine. It can raise the likelihood of media addiction in time.
The negative and positive effect of media on your child depends on the amount of time spent on media and how well parents regulate the child’s exposure to it.
If you want more of a natural look, why not go for a tinted moisturizer…I started using tinted moisturizer as I got older, as it looks more natural for everyday use, apply a little concealer under the eyes to match the tinted moisturizer, a little blush and lipstick to match and a touch of mascara and eyebrow pencil……voila…
Many people choose to wear makeup every day, either to cover up blemishes or simply enhance their natural beauty. If you want an evening look, then you might want to wear more of a deeper foundation.
Knowing which products to use and in what order seems complicated and time-consuming, but is actually very simple and easy to master…Breaking down your routine into smaller steps will help.
Men and makeup
Experts suggests that guys will most likely pick up a concealer to cover up a blemish or try foundation to even out skin tone rather than use an eyeshadow palette…Most men are not using makeup to radically transform how they look but to transform how they feel……A Mintel survey found that 42% of UK men agreed that doing anything beyond making sure you’re clean is unnecessary.
Almost half of UK men used facial skincare products as part of their daily routine, and 59% agreed that appearance is very important, according to a 2016 survey by consultancy group Mintel.….The growth of men’s beauty and fashion products has been outpacing those of women’s since 2010, says market research company Euromonitor, suggesting that men are increasingly becoming interested in shaping their own appearance.
Which products should I use ? why not try the following:-
The tinted moisturizer I use during the day is the product “Dove”) I find it nice and smooth, it just glides on the skin..there are some others I have used such as BB and Nivea, just choose the shade that matches with your skin tone.
Foundation is an essential part of simple makeup. To apply foundation, start by adding “punctuation marks of the foundation” all over the face. Here are the marks to make: make a dot on the forehead, a narrow line along the nose, and commas around the corner of the nose and a period on the chin, then just blend with a sponge or makeup brushes.
Always start out with a completely clean face. The very first part of your routine is to clean your face. Use a washcloth, ( I personally use a skin cleanser with cotton pads) soap, and warm (but not hot) water to gently wash your face. If you shower in the morning and already scrubbed your face, you can of course skip this step. It’s even more important to make sure your face is clean at the end of the day. Always be sure to remove your makeup before going to bed.
Apply sunscreen and moisturizer to hydrate the skin.. If you plan on spending time in the sun, always use a sunscreen to protect your skin from those sun-rays….
Before you apply your makeup, use a primer to your face. Primer helps makeup go on easier and last longer.
No matter what your skin type is, regular cleansing, toning and moisturizing is essential to keep the skin clear. This will help set the stage for makeup so that your skin is ready and primed for the colors. Use a good cleanser twice a day made especially for your skin type. This will keep acne away
keep skin hydrated with a moisturizer
Use a sunscreen during the day and a moisturizing cream or lotion at night, to keep skin hydrated.
Also try and exfoliate weekly to get rid of those dead skin cells….Exfoliation removes dead skin cells to regenerate younger looking skin.
Along with healthy eating, physical activity is important. Be as active as possible,in as many different ways as possible. Aim to do at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity on most, if not all days of the week. A regular half-hour of physical activity can help to:
If your goal is weight loss, aim to do at least 60 minutes of physical activity on most days of the week. If 30–60 minutes of physical activity seems like too much to start with, you can break this up into smaller blocks of 10–15 minutes, spread out across the day.
Resistance activity is also highly recommended for all people and especially people with diabetes. An exercise physiologist can help you, to create a safe resistance activity program. Aim to do resistance type activities at least twice per week.
This could include:
body weight exercises like push-ups, squats or lunges at home
using dumbbells and resistance bands (such as Thera-Bands™) to do resistance exercises at home
doing tasks around the home that involve lifting, carrying or digging
joining a gym and doing weights or other resistance exercises.
Also try to reduce the amount of time you spend sitting down, either at work, at home or both. Some small activities you can do to help reduce the amount of time you spend sitting throughout the day include:
Take the stairs rather than the lift.
Park further away from your destination and walk.
Get off public transport one stop earlier and walk the rest of the way.
Get up to get a drink of water on a regular basis, at least once every hour.
Do some chores, such as ironing, while watching TV.
Play with your children or grandchildren in the park.
Get up and talk to your work colleagues rather than emailing them.
Sugar intake and diabetes
People with diabetes who follow a healthy eating pattern, can include a small amount of sugar in their diet. However, the sugar should be eaten as part of a nutritious meal. For example, one teaspoon of honey with plain porridge, tinned fruit in natural juice and some types of high fibre breakfast cereals with dried fruit, such as natural muesli.
WE ALL WANT TO BE HEALTHLY AND WE HAVE CHOICES ON HOW WE LIVE, SOME PEOPLE ARE NOT AS FORTUNATE AS OTHERS, BUT WE NEED TO MAKE THE MOST OUT OF WHAT WE HAVE….WE ALL KNOW DIET AND FITNESS, PLAYS A BIG PART OF OUR HEALTHLY LIFESTYLE, IF WE HAVE A BUSY LIFESTYLE, WE SOMETIMES DON’T HAVE TIME TO ALWAYS EAT HEALTHY AND DO EXERCISE, WHICH MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO BE GOOD TO OUR BODIES.
The phrase ‘healthy lifestyle‘ is an abbreviated definition of how you should live if you want to live a vibrant, active life with a healthy body and healthy mind. Creating a healthy lifestyle doesn’t have to mean drastic changes. Making gradual small changes to your diet and activity habit can have a big impact.
Even if you opt for small changes, the benefits are still pretty amazing. For example, increasing your activity level can help you to reach and maintain a healthy weight. If you are currently overweight, small steps toward that goal can have an impact.
Schedule time when you turn off the TV and computer. Once a week, turn off all screens and do something a little more physical with your family. Play games, take a walk, do almost anything that will be more active than sitting on the couch.
Look for small ways to walk more. When you get the mail, take a walk around the block, take the dog for an extra outing each day, or walk on your treadmill for five minutes before getting ready for work. When you’re on the phone, pace around or even do some cleaning while gabbing. This is a great way to stay moving while doing something you enjoy.
Get housework done and increase daily movement at the same time. Shoveling snow, working in the garden, raking leaves, sweeping the floor—these kinds of activities may not be vigorous exercise, but they can keep you moving while getting your house in order.
Would you believe that Skin is the largest organ in the body ?…..skin is a constantly changing, dynamic organ, there are three main skin layers – the epidermis, the dermis and the subcutis – each of which is made up of several sub-layers. The skin functions as the body’s first line of defence against bacteria and viruses, and is also a vital sensory organ, sensitive to the softest touch as well as pain.
Healthy skin also maintains the balance of fluids and helps to regular body temperature……..The skin is truly amazing.
Did you know that because the skin is the body’s largest organ, if you were to stretch out the skin of the average adult, it would cover 22 square feet (2 square metres)…. Epidermis is the thin cuticle protective outer layer of the skin.
The dermis the second layer of skin, plays a key role in protecting the body from external influences and irritants as well as feeding the outermost layers of skin from he innermost skin layer stores energy while padding and insulating the body.. The subcutisis the innermost skin layer stores energy while padding and insulating the body.. the skin is made up of pores.
What are Pores in the skin ?
A pore is an opening of the skin through which sweat and other materials can pass. A skin pore can become clogged when it fills up with sebaceous fluid or dead skin and is overcome by bacteria on the face and body.
People with oily skin are more likely to suffer from clogged pores than people with other types of skin. ..and People with dry skin are more likely to suffer clogged pores, because of the buildup of dead skin cells.
Pores may be more prominent on the nose, cheeks, forehead and chin which can be very bothersome and disfiguring. Pores are small openings in our skin which moisturize our dry skin, regulate the temperature and help our body to flush out the toxins. Although there is no permanent cure for large pores, there are several ways you can shrink pores on face or minimize their appearance.
People with naturally oily and thicker skin often tend to develop large pores than those with dry and thinner skin. Enlarged pore size are often associated with sebum output level, your age and gender.
Blackheads are often found on the nose, forehead and chin, blackheads are not necessarily a sign, you’re not washing your face properly. Hormones and using the wrong skin care products will also lead to these unwanted blemishes……….Blackheads usually form, when dirt and oil become trapped in pores and eliminating them helps reduce the formation of new blackheads, while gently scrubbing away the existing comedones. (Black or White coloured spots ).
Speak to your dermatologist about various prescription topical creams available to treat acne and blackheads.
These are some common skin problems-:
Acne- is caused by blocked hair follicles and oil (sebaceous) glands of the skin, often triggered by hormonal changes.
Atopic dermatitis (Eczema) can appear on the face (especially in infants), hands, feet or in the creases and folds of the skin.)
Shingles virus (herpes zoster) results in a red, blistered rash caused by the same virus that causes chicken pox (the varicella -zoster virus, that are the familiar welts (raised, red, itchy areas) that can occur on the skin.
Urticaria/ Hives are the familiar welts (raised, red, itchy areas) that can occur on the skin. Common causes of hives include medication, food, and bug bites or stings.
Athletes Foot can lead to extreme itching, redness, and cracked skin on the feet and in between the toes, Its a type of fungi which is generally found in a warm moist environment like swimming pool, spa, sauna area’s.
Solutions for clogged pores..
Washing your face in the morning and before bed with a mild cleanser, formulated for your skin type, will help with clogged pores.
Try using exfoliants, facials and lightly abrasive chemicals, as they can prevent the build up of sebaceous fluid, which is the principal culprit in the formation of acne, whiteheads and blackheads.
Some facial masks, cleansers, toners, serums and lotions include pore-refining ingredients such as alpha and beta hydroxy acids and vitamin A, which exfoliate the skin and cleanse the pores of impurities.
Never squeeze or pop a blackhead to prevent damage, which can cause scarring or small holes on the skin.
WE ALL WANT TO FEEL AND LOOK GOOD, IT GIVES US A FEELING OF SELF-WORTH, IT BUILDS UP OUR CONFIDENCE AND SELF-ESTEEM… ONE WAY IS TO LOOK AFTER OUR SKIN AND FOR THE LADIES, WE LIKE TO BUY MAKE-UP AND MOISTURIZING CREAMS, EXFOLIATE OUR SKIN AND TAKE GOOD CARE OF BODIES. BUT THERE IS SOMETHING MORE, WE NEED TO DO..
All of these are important if you want to want to look and feel good about yourself. But beauty starts with good health. Hair. Our hair is one of the first things that people notice about us. It’s, therefore, important that you look after it. Shampoo and condition regularly, using products that suit your hair type. Treat yourself to a conditioning treatment every so often.

Accept yourself. You are who you are. You may change that soon, but at this very moment you’re that version of yourself. And before you accept it, you won’t be able to make any progress. Don’t let others put you down. People will try to discourage you, talk you out of something you’re up to, tell you you’re crazy to think in a certain way, etc. Focus on your positive qualities. Everyone has good and bad sides. They are who you are, true. But the best you can do to boost your self-esteem is to pay attention to the good ones. Give yourself compliments. Instead of waiting for others to do that, why don’t you start now.
Throw away your conventional, media-defined ideals of beauty. You’re not going to change society’s definition of beauty, but you can change your own. Don’t focus on the beauty you see in ads but, instead, to the beauty you see in the real-life people you admire. Define yourself in ways other than how you look. Make your self-esteem contingent on your inner, not outer qualities. Focus on what you like about your abilities, personality, relationships, and perspective on the world. Don’t freak out when you feel you “look bad.” Anxiety and stress can take an actual toll on your face, and you’ll be more likely to display the outer signs that truly detract from a pleasant appearance. On a smile.
When you dress better, you feel better about yourself. As a natural consequence of feeling better, you project this positive feeling outward to other people. Essentially you… This leads people that you encounter to think “Well, she/he certainly acts like a good-looking woman/guy, so they must be.” So being treated this way by others affirms your own positive feelings.
related note, assembling your features into a pleasant expression when you smile.
