I have found over the years that any chemicals that we apply to our hair, are causing great damage to our health…. really anything with Sulfates the foaming agent in shampoo’s is harsh on the hair and cause breakage.
These harsh chemicals will strip the natural oils from the hair, which is why we need conditioner to re-moisturize hair, without leaving it oily….A build up of these chemicals can also clog and reduce the size of hair follicles, leading to hair loss and damage, especially to sensitive skin.
One of the ingredients used in shampoo’s is Parabens, they are used to increase the shelf life of hair care products, manufacturers add preservatives called parabens….they prevent bacteria from growing in your shampoos. Parabens (Butyl, propyl and ethyl parabens) are known to mimic the function of hormone estrogen (female hormone responsible for reproductive functions) and can increase the risk of breast cancer…
These are just a couple of the number of ingredients that are toxic……When you eat something, the enzymes in your saliva and stomach help to break it down and flush it out of your body…. However, when you put these chemicals on your skin, they are absorbed straight into your bloodstream without filtering of any kind, going directly to your delicate organs.
Fragrance sounds nice and perfumed, but the reality is that fragrance used in shampoo and other personal care products comes from more than 3100 chemicals in the arsenal of the fragrance industry. By products from the production of fragrances include dioxin and formaldehyde.
These chemicals we use on our hair and body, are not ingredients your body can easily recognize, so they wreak havoc with the immune system, leading to frequent colds, viruses, and even fungal infections.
What Shampoo’s and Conditioners should we use ?
We should look for oils like coconut oil, olive oil, jojoba oil and palm oil in your conditioners that help nourish your hair. Hydrolyzed keratin is an ingredient that you can opt for in your conditioner that repairs damaged hair. So it would be wise, to read labels on your shampoo and conditioner bottles before you make a decision on your next purchase. So generally most organic products would not have any toxic chemical’s and would be safe to use…. Since using organic treatments on my hair, it is more healthy and free from breakages.
